Celebrating World Ocean Day, IKEA Invites People to Support Sustainable Sea Ecosystems

Celebrating World Ocean Day, IKEA Invites People to Support Sustainable Sea Ecosystems

To celebrate World Ocean Day, IKEA held a special event at IKEA Jakarta Garden City store on 5 June 2025. The event featured a Talkshow with the Programme Director of Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Indonesia, as well as a Cooking Demo with Chef Andrian Ishak, Chef Owner of Namaaz Dining and molecular culinary pioneer in Indonesia.

Through this event, IKEA reinforces its commitment to ocean sustainability and environmental
responsibility. Together with MSC, a non-profit organisation that focuses on sustainable fisheries
practices, IKEA educates visitors on the importance of keeping the ocean healthy and productive for future generations.

All seafood products served in the restaurant and sold in IKEA stores are MSC certified. This certification guarantees that the seafood comes from responsibly managed sources, without damaging the sea ecosystem, and supports the welfare of local fishermen.

IKEA and MSC invite everyone to play an active role in creating a better sea, starting from the food that
we eat.
