Choosing more environmentally friendly materials

Choosing more environmentally friendly materials

IKEA is rooted in Scandinavian design heritage, where the use of responsibly sourced wood is paramount. All IKEA wood is sourced according to the IWAY Forestry Standard, which prohibits the use of illegally harvested wood. And, by the end of 2020, all our wood FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) certified or sourced from recycled materials.
We use recycled materials whenever possible. Recycled wood, plastic, paper, and metal are some of the materials we typically create with. We also enjoy using natural, renewable materials like bamboo and natural fibers. We do this, of course, to create a better world.
