Shop Design & Activity Manager

What you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Lead and manage a team of Visual Merchandising/Activity co-workers, inspire & challenge them to strengthen the uniqueness of the IKEA identity in range presentation solutions in the store that reflect a wide variety of styles, price levels, meet many individual tastes and exceed visitor's expectations
  • Responsible for gathering and translating knowledge of people's needs and dreams in the local market into relevant and inspiring range presentation solutions. Keep up to date and knowledgeable about retailing, home furnishing and trends in order to support Home Furnishing Retail Design (HFRD)
  • Responsible for the recruitment and competence development of Visual Merchandising/Activity co-workers & securing personal succession planning by constantly searching for potential candidates
  • Provide active support in developing the department action plan using layout as a commercial tool & range presentation. Focused on growing business and supporting long-term profitability together with the HFRD team & other functions
  • Act quickly to exploit commercial opportunities and ensure the Visual Merchandising/Activity co-workers understand the impact of HFRD actions on the financial result and execute range presentation solutions with high quality, simplicity, cost-effectiveness & efficiency by applying national directions & using global tools
  • Ensure the team always keep visitors in mind, minimize disruption and communicate changes when working on the shop floor. Actively contribute in the national Visual Merchandising/Activity Managers network and share national directions and global tools with the Visual Merchandising/Activity co-workers in the stores



We want you to be a person who: 

  • Has home furnishing & retail background. Proven experience in retail design, shop design, visual merchandising and/or similar and delivering results. Experienced in planning, driving output and measuring performance (business) with min. 5 years experience
  • Experienced as Visual Merchandiser, proven success in manage/lead co-workers, creative processes & coaching people. Understands life at home in the local market. Ability to use the space and layout to optimize commerciality
  • Strong ability to communicate and share creative ideas, concepts and solutions. Creative and conceptual thinking skills, a holistic view and eye for detail
  • Ability to understand the evolution of the new retail trends, have analytic skills and ability to identify insights from data collected. Ability to combine and identify commercial, aesthetics, practical skills and has problem solving skill
  • Has strong communication both in English & Bahasa (speaking & writing) and computer proficient with knowledge and experience of using relevant software (e.g. AutoCad)
  • Willing to work in shifting schedule with flexible working hours, including Saturdays, Sunday, Public Holiday & willing to work at Bali
